A contribution to Czechoslovak-Yugoslav economic relations in the 1920s
(Fondacija "Za srpski narod i državu" : Belehrad, 2026) Jakab, František
The study focuses on Czechoslovak-Yugoslav economic relations during the 1920s. Its aim is to analyze the reasons for their problematic development, which never fulfilled their potential enabled by the differing nature of the economies, close political ties, and membership in the Little Entente. The results, based on a review of secondary literature and archival research in Prague and Belgrade, identify the main causes of this failure as the character of Czechoslovak economic policy, its expansionist nature, and the rejection of Yugoslav imports. Furthermore, bilateral complications in negotiations on trade agreements, the introduction of import duties, and numerous disputes typical of Czechoslovak-Yugoslav trade cannot be overlooked. Economic relations that could have strengthened bilateral ties ultimately became their weakness.

Kuzmányho hymnická báseň Sláva šľachetným
(Fondacija "Za srpski narod i državu" : Belehrad, 2026) Lomenčík, Július
The aim of this article is to use interpretative sketches to discover the humanistic semantics of Kuzmány's hymn "Glory to the Noble" which is, from the philosophical perspective, a classic example of Hegel's dialectic triad. The conclusion points to the still valid ideological message of this hymn (today known under the title "Who Burns for Truth") in the promotion of truth, freedom and equality.

Nica ako kľúčová križovatka narácie v generačnom románe Ôsmy život (pre Brilku)
(Univerzita Konštantína Filozofa v Nitre, 2025) Šedíková Čuhová, Paulína
This article examines nino haratischwili’s The eighth life (for Brilka) as a key example of the contemporary generational novel, focusing on narrative strategies, memory, and gendered narration. Drawing on theories of generational storytelling and postmemory, it analyses how individual life stories intersect with collective historical trauma shaped by twentieth-century Georgian and soviet history. central to the analysis is the female narrator nica, who occupies a dual role as both participant in and mediator of intergenerational memory. The study interprets the metaphor of the carpet as a structural model of memory, emphasizing its layered, non-linear, and recursive organization. Female characters function as narrative nodes that preserve, transmit, and reinterpret family history, while the recurring motif of the “magical” chocolate disrupts linear temporality and reinforces cyclical patterns of trauma. The article argues that the novel constructs memory as a dynamic narrative practice that challenges linear historiography and foregrounds the openness of the future.

Analysing interregional disparities in the EU. An application of beta and sigma convergence
(Cluj University Press : Kluž, 2025) Kožiak, Radoslav; Hvolková, Lenka; Klement, Ladislav; Klementová, Vladimíra; Elexa, Ľuboš
Implementation of regional policy has a long tradition in the European economic space. Since the beginning of European integration in the mid-20th century, a common regional policy based on cohesion, solidarity, and redistribution began to take shape. This paper is focused on the examination of the development of regional disparities in EU27 (27 European Union member states). This phenomenon is characterized by its ‘inertial’ nature, despite the implementation of a relatively generous system of instruments, particularly financial ones, in less developed countries and regions. However, it cannot be unequivocally proven that this is caused by inefficient, inappropriate, or misdirected redistribution within the EU27. The neoclassical concept of β-convergence and σ-convergence enables the identification of the RD’s (Regional Disparities) tendency within more than 20 years. To prove the results as accurately as possible and compare the development of interregional disparities, the analysis was conducted on the crucial macroeconomic indicator “GDP” (Gross Domestic Product) expressed in PPP (Purchasing Power Parity), not only at the level of EU (European Union) member states, but also at the regional levels. The results of this research reveal that despite the long-term implementation of the common cohesion policy there is a continuous deepening of interregional disparities at all examined NUTS (Nomenclature of territorial units for statistics) levels.
