Digitisation and the related digital inclusion/exclusion constitute significant factors affecting access to education and information, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly. Public libraries as dynamic third sector institutions have the potential to act as facilitators and mediators in the process of bridging the digital divide and promoting lifelong learning for the elderly. We will provide concrete examples from public library practice. The result of our work is a partial overview of the current situation in the field of non-formal education in libraries in Slovakia and Czechia with regard to the impact of the influence of digital technologies.enCC BY-SA Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0.
