    Participatory platform for sustainable cultural tourism : the case of Central Slovakia

    Digital technologies, combined with a participatory approach, form the foundational prerequisites for the development of successful and innovative products in sustainable tourism. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the participatory creation of an interactive responsive platform and digital map titled “Mining Treasures of Central Slovakia.” This platform compellingly showcases the most significant mining sites in Central Slovakia, aiming to leverage their rich cultural and historical potential to establish a competitive edge. This, in turn, supports regional development and promotes sustainable cultural tourism. This chapter includes a case study highlighting best practices in participatory platform development. Central tfvo the discussion is the region’s potential, rooted in its rich mining history. This potential, when combined with modern technologies and a participatory approach, sets the stage for the platform’s success.
