Položka Analyzing the complexities of export: a heterogeneous analysis of BRICS economies and product types(Springer : New York, 2026) Kafeel, Kafeel; Hronec, Martin; Hroncová Vicianová, Jana; Khan, Sher; Šuplata, MarianThis study examines the determinants of export sophistication across BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) from 2000 to 2022. It focuses on the heterogeneous effects of macroeconomic variables economic growth (GDP), foreign direct investment (FDI), human capital, and research and development (R&D) as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on export sophistication. The study employs the cross-sectionally augmented autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) approach, which effectively captures cross-sectional dependence and slope heterogeneity, improving upon traditional panel estimation techniques. The empirical findings indicate that GDP growth, FDI inflows, human capital, and R&D expenditures positively influence export sophistication in BRICS economies, while the COVID-19 pandemic exerts a negative effect. These insights offer important policy implications for enhancing export quality and economic resilience in emerging markets.Položka Demographic analysis and resource allocation in humanitarian aid: a case study of age-specific service provision(Univerzita Komenského : Bratislava, 2024) Seberíni, Andrea; Hronec, Martin; Tokovská, MiroslavaPurpose – The purpose of this study is to address a gap in the existing literature on humanitarian service use by Ukrainian refugees in Slovakia. In particular, it examines the patterns of service use by different demographic groups and considers the implications of these patterns for the allocation of resources. Aims(s) – The principal aim is to analyse the variations in service utilisation across different demographic groups and service categories. Secondary objectives include the identification of trends in service delivery over time and the drawing of implications for future humanitarian response strategies. Design/methodology/approach – The study employs a quantitative, cross-sectional methodology, analysing data from a charitable organisation situated in the Slovakian midlands. The service delivery records of 1,033 cases, encompassing seven categories, were examined over the period from November 2023 to March 2024. The data analysis comprised descriptive statistics, chisquare tests and time series analysis. Findings – The results revealed a significant gender disparity, with women utilizing 73.3% of the services in question. With regard to age, the 45-60 age group constituted the largest proportion of service users (39.5%). The most frequently provided services were food assistance and hygiene support. The time series analysis revealed a peak in November 2023, followed by a gradual decline. Limitations of the study - The study is limited by its focus on a single organisation and region, which restricts the potential for generalisation. A five-month study period may not be sufficiently long to capture long-term trends or seasonal changes. Originality/value - The study provides evidence-based insights for more targeted and effective resource allocation in refugee assistance and contributes to the growing body of literature on demographic analysis in humanitarian contexts.Položka Kvalifikácia manažmentu a zodpovedné hospodárenie v samospráve(Belianum. Vydavateľstvo Univerzity Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici, 2025) Hronec, Martin; Beresecká, Janka; Hroncová Vicianová, JanaBased on secondary research in the local government environment and an analysis of theoretical approaches to social responsibility in the public sector, the scientific objective of the study is to identify the skills needed for local government management as a component of the economic and social pillar of social responsibility. The objective was to determine the actual effect of training on some selected measures of local government economic performance, which is a component of the economic pillar of social responsibility. The scientific study focuses on the theoretical and practical training of statutory and local government council members and how it affects some economic measures of local government performance, including economic performance, the size of the municipality’s net assets per capita, long-term and short-term liabilities, capital expenditures, fixed assets, liquidity, current account balance, and investment intensity. As part of the social pillar of social responsibility, the study also examined how education affects the economic pillar of social responsibility, which is responsible and effective governance.Položka Spotrebitelia v prostredí zeleného marketingu a greenwashingu(Belianum. Vydavateľstvo Univerzity Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici, 2024) Seberíni, Andrea; Izáková, Katarína; Hronec, MartinA significant problem that is emerging in the discursive practices of green marketing is the rise of greenwashing; companies providing irrelevant, overstated or false information about a product’s sustainable attributes. This raises a number of issues that have not yet been rigorously investigated. This study uses focus group discussions to provide one of the first assessments of the impact of greenwashing on consumers. Three semi-structured focus group interviews 14 participants aged 20-45 using reflective thematic analysis. The aim of the study is to gain first insights into how consumers perceive different green marketing strategies. Findings from the focus group discussions suggest that message source, green brands, brand perception and brand familiarity have a strong influence on perceived message credibility. The impact of disclosure of greenwashing strategies on purchase behaviour is influenced by several factors, but even in cases where it does not directly lead to a change in purchase behaviour, consumers believed that greenwashing information was important to their overall decision-making process. The observed deterioration in consumer trust in product brands in response to greenwashing undermines the potential of green marketing and contributes to reputational damage for manufacturers. More importantly from a practical perspective, this study shows evidence of the impact of greenwashing on credibility and opens ways for further research.Položka Vnímanie vybraných možností financovania v start-upoch generáciou Z(Belianum. Vydavateľstvo Univerzity Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici, 2024) Hroncová Vicianová, Jana; Gundová, Petra; Hronec, MartinThe current generation of young people is growing up in an era that is strongly influenced by digital technologies and the Internet, characterized by fears of stereotypes, but also by flexibility, non-conflict and temporary work. From this point of view, regular work in a company can appear undynamic, and starting one's own business is becoming more and more popular. The characteristics of generation Z can also greatly influence the perception of ways of financing businesses and the resulting form of business itself. The presented scientific article is focused on the perception of selected methods of financing, which fundamentally differ in start-ups and in other types of business. The aim of the article is, based on a questionnaire survey, to analyze and compare the perception of selected methods of financing in companies by generation Z with regard to the financing of start-ups. The results assume the differentiation of the preferences of generation Z in individual areas and the determination of whether this generation is more inclined to traditional or alternative or risky forms of financing.
