| dc.description.abstract | This scientific monograph addresses the issue of inter-municipal cooperation in the delivery of local public services, which is relevant not only from the perspective of developing the theory of public economics, but also from the perspective of addressing the practical problem of effective public service management. Research responds to a gap in the current state of knowledge on inter-municipal cooperation in the national context, where there is still no sufficient explanation of why this instrument, despite its strong theoretical potential to increase efficiency in public service delivery, often fails in practice to achieve the expected results. Viewing inter-municipal cooperation through the lens of the Institutional Collective Action (ICA) framework, in which transaction costs and cooperation risks shaped by political-administrative, economic, and institutional-legislative factors influence municipalities’ decisions to cooperate, led us to formulate the following research aim: The objective of the monograph is to contribute, through the conclusions of the authors’ own primary research, to the development of the theoretical microeconomic concept of inter-municipal cooperation as a mode of local public service delivery in the context of a fragmented system of public administration, and to offer possible solutions for the management of inter-municipal cooperation in the Slovak Republic. | |
