Kultúrna diplomacia a jej úloha v medzinárodných vzťahoch
Cultural diplomacy, as a component of foreign policy, has become increasingly significant in global affairs. This paper explores the evolution of cultural diplomacy, the mechanisms through which it operates, and its impact on international relations. By providing specific examples of cultural exchange programs, government-backed initiatives, and public diplomacy efforts, the paper demonstrates how nations employ culture as a tool for fostering mutual understanding, building soft power, and advancing national interests. The paper concludes with an evaluation of the contemporary challenges and opportunities associated with cultural diplomacy in an era of globalization and shifting geopolitical dynamics.

Cybersecurity as a key element in international relations
(Vydavateľstvo Ekonóm : Bratislava, 2025) Hyryavets, Halyna; Kazanský, Rastislav; Rýsová, Lucia
This article analyses the growing importance of cybersecurity within contemporary international relations. It focuses on cyber threats as a novel challenge to state sovereignty and emphasizes the need to integrate cybersecurity into global security strategies. The study applies a descriptive-analytical method, historical-comparative analysis, and case studies of recent cyberattacks. Particular attention is paid to the legal vacuum in cyberspace and the lack of universally accepted international norms. The findings confirm that cybersecurity is a fundamental component of both national and collective security, requiring a comprehensive, coordinated, and multilateral approach.

The pedagogical aspect of the multilinguistic phenomenon of imagery in political langugage
(Magnanimitas : Hradec Králové, 2024) Polčicová, Mária
In contemporary political discourse, imagery is one of the key tools politicians use to communicate with their constituents. Imagery, whether metaphors, symbols, or other forms of rhetorical imagery, enables politicians not only to convey information effectively but also to influence the attitudes and emotions of their audiences. The aim of this paper is to identify the pedagogical aspect of the metalinguistic phenomenon of imagery in political language and at the same time to show how this phenomenon can be used in the process of education, and the development of critical thinking in students.

Intercomprehension of Romance languages, plurilingualism and language policy
(Sofia University St. Kliment Ohridski, 2024) Kubeková, Janka
One of the defining characteristics of the European Union (EU) is multi- lingualism. In his comprehensive work La ricerca della lingua perfetta nella cultura europea, Umberto Eco (2018) explores the search for a common perfect language for Europeans. The aim of our study is to find out what the EU language policy is in line with Romance languages. The paper describes the state of Romance language teaching at secondary level in Europe and compares it with Slovak schools at the same level. We use a survey carried out by the Eurydice Information Network, which is the European Commission’s instrument for collecting informa- tion on the education systems in the Member States of the European Union, to determine the state of foreign language teaching in Europe. Furthermore, we provide a comparative analysis of the results with statistical data regarding foreign language teaching at secondary level in Slovakia obtained from the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic. After assessing the status and prospects of Romance language teaching, we suggest possible solutions to the situation of Romance languages in Slovakia, while intercomprehension can be considered as such. Finally, we offer possible approaches to the teaching of intercomprehension at the university level in the non-philological field.
