Položka Pitfalls of the industrialization of selected regions of Central Slovakia in the first four decades of the 20th century(Ostrava : Ostravská univerzita v Ostravě, 2024) Mičko, Peter; Mičková, ZuzanaThe industrialization of an initially rural country is an important phenomenon and can answer the question of the region’s economic development in a given period. Industrialization is a factor that affects the entire socio-economic character of the country, such as the construction of cities and transport, and it can also affect agricultural production. All these factors have a retroactive effect on industrial development. Within the economic field, agriculture has traditionally been dominant in the Slovak territory. The mentioned factor started to change in the last third of the 19 th century, when representatives in the Kingdom of Hungary tried to develop the industrialization of the originally rural country. Naturally, the process of increased industrialization affected the territory of present-day Slovakia as well.Položka Po stopách kritičiek: Zora Jesenská a Alžbeta Göllnerová ako kritické hlasy tridsiatych rokov 20. storočia(Slovenská akadémia vied : Bratislava, 2026) Pešková, AdriánaThe article offers a probe into the critical work of Alžbeta Göllnerová-Gwerková (1905–1944) and Zora Jesenská (1909–1972) in the 1930s. Its aim is to analyze the literary-historical and sociological contexts of their entry into the sphere of criticism, as well as selected texts in which they responded to tendencies in mainstream literary-critical thought while also opening themselves to broader engagements with social and cultural criticism, revealing their understanding of criticism as part of the ethos of the democratic state. Methodologically, the study draws on the concept of the phasing of female identity (Libuše Heczková) and the postcritical concept of working with texts (Rita Felski), tracing the gradual transformations that prepared a stable background for women critics’ critical work in the 1930s. In its analytical section, the article examines two thematic areas: the points of departure for the more active engagement of these actors in the women’s emancipation movement and their dialogue with the mainstream criticism of the period through reflection on shared questions, where the “pulsation” of literary development becomes visible, including with regard to the self-regulation of criticism.
