Vychádzajúc z politického a estetického odkazu Bertolta Brechta, Torrence chápal jazyk nielen ako prostriedok komunikácie, ale ako formu vytrvalosti – spôsob, ako si zachovať etickú a intelektuálnu jasnosť uprostred spoločenského a inštitucionálneho rozkladu. Zatiaľ čo Brecht sa usiloval prebudiť kritický odstup prostredníctvom Verfremdungseffektu, Torrence tento odstup premenil na etickú prítomnosť: na moment, keď sa herec a divák stretávajú prostredníctvom krehkosti slova. Jeho divadlo reinterpretovalo Brechtov politický projekt v rámci venezuelského kontextu, kde sa javisko stáva zároveň útočiskom i bojiskom – miestom, kde reč vzdoruje tichu a vedomie prežíva prostredníctvom formy. Torrenceho tvorba odhaľuje, že reziliencia v divadle neznamená popretie zraniteľnosti, ale jej premenenie na akt jasnozrivosti. Jeho dramaturgia nanovo definuje politické divadlo ako vytrvalú prax pozornosti a starostlivosti, v ktorej sa samotný akt hovorenia stáva formou odporu.Položka Discussions of translation methods in Soviet Ukraine in the late 1920s - early 1930s(UCL Press : London, 2026) Kolomiyets, Lada; Kalnychenko, OleksandrTranslation Studies before ‘Translation Studies' challenges the established historical narratives of ‘translation studies’ by showcasing some of the rich traditions of debate, research and theorising that happened around the world in the centuries prior to the supposed beginnings of the discipline. The volume includes selected extracts by scholars and translators from the ‘nothing happened’ period. Beginning in Ancient Rome, the volume moves through Medieval China and India, Early Modern Europe, the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries in Europe, Africa, the Arab World and South America, before concluding with twentieth-century extracts from China, Brazil, Russia, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Ukraine and Poland. The extracts are accompanied by essays that explore the ideas in the context of their time and link to the concepts of post-1972 translation studies. V kontexte globalizácie a internacionalizácie odborného diskurzu a komunikácie predstavuje terminologické databázy ako cenný nástroj pri používaní presnej a aktuálnej odbornej lexiky, ako aj pri rozvoji prekladateľských kompetencií a poukazuje na vybrané medzinárodné a národné databázy rybárskej terminológie a možnosti ich využitia v modernej jazykovej edukácii. The study explores the importance of terminological databases in specialized language education, with a focus on the field of fisheries and aquaculture in the German – Slovak language pair. In the context of globalization and the internationalization of professional discourse, terminological databases are presented as valuable tools for acquiring precise and up-to-date specialized vocabulary, as well as for developing translation competences. Stigmatisation and exclusion in public communication represent a serious social problem because they prevent individuals or groups from self-realisation or limit them in it. These phenomena occur for various reasons and to varying degrees in every society. The study focuses on the verbal, and to a lesser extent multimodal, representation of selected social contexts from the past and present, with an emphasis on the stigmatisation and exclusion of certain social groups in public communication.Položka Správna výslovnosť ako determinant zrozumiteľnosti(Trnavská univerzita v Trnave, 2025) Tarajová, AdriánaPríspevok tematizuje problematiku (ne)zrozumiteľnosti v ústnej sfére komunikácie. Zameriavame sa na ústnosť, ktorej základom je počúvanie s porozumením ako receptívna zručnosť a hovorenie ako produktívna zručnosť. Získané výslovnostné automatizmy do veľkej miery ovplyvňujú schopnosť porozumenia auditívneho textu. Venujeme sa otázke, ako správna výslovnosť podporuje zrozumiteľnosť a zefektívňuje ústnu komunikáciu. Našu výskumnú otázku podporuje aj doterajší výskum o zrozumiteľnosti reči u pacientov s Parkinsonovou chorobou, ktorého výsledky budú marginálne prezentované aj v našom príspevku. Tento príspevok predstavuje stručnú syntézu vývoja pedagogického myslenia v kontexte dejinných premien, pričom poukazuje na vzájomné prepojenie, filozofie, filozofie výchovy, teológie, psychológie a sociálnych vied pri formovaní edukačných konceptov do výchovno-vzdelávacieho procesu. Väčšia pozornosť je venovaná pedagogickému mysleniu 20. storočia, ktoré sa vyznačuje pluralitou smerov a interdisciplinárnym prepojením, ako aj reformným prístupom reprezentovaným M. Montessori a R. Steinerom. V závere sa sústreďujeme na výzvy 21. storočia, ktoré súvisia s naliehavou potrebou posilniť osobnostnú integritu žiakov a učiteľov. Text argumentuje, že zmysluplná edukácia v súčasnosti vyžaduje nielen technické inovácie, ale predovšetkým filozofickú redefiníciu jej zmyslu a cieľov.Položka Esej ako žáner v ére digitalizácie v intermediálnych kontextoch(Ústav pro českou literaturu AV ČR : Praha, 2025) Pešková, AdriánaThe paper is concerned with the analysis of selected developmental tendencies of the essay as a genre in the era of digitalization in an intermedial context. The remediation process involved in the transformation of the literary essay into the video/audio-visual essay is observed. The process of remediation is examined through the analysis of three typologically different video essays from three different environments — one Slovak and one Czech video essay are described, as well as one video essay from the US. In particular, the focus is on the attributes that transfer from the textual medium to the audiovisual medium, while the digital characteristics related to the YouTube platform are not omitted. The aim of the paper is to partly present the transformations of the contemporary essay, its developmental tendencies and characteristics through the analysis and comparison of the mentioned essays. At the same time, it is also an attempt to look at the essay as an initially literary genre through the lens of intermedial theories.Položka Autonomy in the digital age - a Kantian perspective on artificial intelligence(Filozofický ústav SAV : Bratislava, 2025) Dulovics, DenisThis paper deals with the impact of artificial intelligence on individual autonomy in the context of Kant's ethics. At a time when individual decisions are increasingly influenced – even shaped – by algorithmic recommendations and predictive models, the question arises as to what extent humans can retain their autonomy. Shaped by a digital environment that is formed by a network of algorithms, individuals are gradually ceasing to be active creators of their own decisions. Instead, they are increasingly exposed to the influence of opinions and recommendations conveyed to them by impersonal systems. This problem is exacerbated by the fact that technologies influencing decision-making and autonomy are designed with the intention of shaping user behavior. This situation may result in a weakening of moral responsibility and a reduction in freedom. Nevertheless, we argue that autonomy can be preserved, provided that individuals retain the ability to critically reflect on the outputs of artificial intelligence (as well as other technologies) and accept them only if they are consistent with rationally justified moral judgments. In the digital age, it is therefore particularly important to develop the capacity for critical reflection and rational judgment, which Kant considered the basis of moral autonomy. Without them, freedom risks losing its essential content.Položka Konceptualizovanie antihrdinov v agonistickej línii ako konanie v sociálnom systéme literatúra (na príklade „zlostných esejí“ Alexandra Matušku)(Ústav pro českou literaturu AV ČR : Praha, 2025) Pešková, AdriánaThe presented paper examines selected essays by Alexander Matuška from the 1930s in the context of the theory of social systems. Drawing on the theses of the so-called integrative causal model of science, Matuška’s early work is interpreted within the framework of J. Carroll’s agonistic structure. In it, the emphasis is on conceptualizing protagonists and antagonists, or heroes and anti-heroes, as main and secondary characters in a particular narrative. The aim of this paper is to interpret Matušek’s literary agency in the social system of literature as a purposively anatagonistic conceptualization of persons with a concrete correlate in reality. His essays are also interpreted in the context of influences from the Czech cultural context, namely as echoes of the ideas and views of F. X. Šalda and A. Poukazujeme na výzvy, ktorým prekladatelia čelia pri práci so zdržanlivosťou ako jazykovým prostriedkom, ktoré sú hlboko zakorenené v britskej kultúre. Príspevok navrhuje dvojfázovú výskumnú metodológiu, ktorá zahŕňa kvalitatívnu analýzu s účelom preskúmať pragmatické aspekty zdržanlivosti v literárnych textoch a kvantitatívnu analýzu na posúdenie interkultúrnych kompetencií študentov translatológie na univerzite Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici. Výskum bude organizovaný prostredníctvom anonymného internetového dotazníka, testu odborných skúseností a osobných rozhovorov so študentmi. Medzi očakávané výsledky patrí lepšie pochopenie vzťahu medzi interkultúrnymi kompetenciami, prekladateľskými zručnosťami a rozvoj vzdelávacích aktivít na posilnenie týchto kompetencií v kontexte prekladu.Položka O cennosťach, o literature, ob Ivane Sergejeviče Šmeleve...(Asociácia rusistov Slovenska : Bratislava, 2024) Cintula, IgorНастоящая статья представляет материал, находящийся на грани размышлений автора о ценностях в жизни человека, формирующих его мировоззрение с раннего детства, размышлений о литературе, выполняющей специфическую функцию носителя прекрасного в жизни индивида, а также передающей читателю определенный ценностный спектр, и размышлений об Иване Сергеевиче Шмелеве (1873-1950), в литературном творчестве которого отражен спектр ценностей русского человека. Таким образом, возникает триада ценности – литература – творчество конкретного писателя, на примере которой автор пытается показать линию, где отдельные ее элементы не функционируют самостоятельно, а наоборот, выступают как взаимосвязанные и взаимовлияющие друг на друга. Цель автора данной статьи – попытаться создать пространство для подобного рода размышлений и показать такую взаимосвязь вышеупомянутых трех элементов в рамках художественной литературы.Položka Keď voda tečie s vínom. Návrhy na prepojenie svetového obchodu cez Uhorsko prostredníctvom využitia riečnej dopravy v diele Gregora Berzeviczyho(Slovenské technické múzeum : Košice, 2024) Lazniová, MiroslavaUhorský osvietenec Gregor František Berzeviczy (1763 – 1822) sa ako prvý uhorský ekonóm a národohospodár vo svojich ekonomických dielach zaoberal stavom uhorského hospodárstva, priemyslu, obchodu, ale sociálno-ekonomickými otázkami. Jedným z jeho najviac uvádzaných návrhov je využitie riečnych tokov na prepravu tovaru z Uhorska, alebo cez Uhorsko na sever k Baltskému moru a na juh k Jadranu. Dielo G. F. Berzeviczyho tak možno chápať aj ako prameň, ktorý z časti ponúka informácie o stave a využívaní uhorských riek na prelome 18. a 19. storočia, ale predovšetkým ponúka návrhy na ich efektívne využitie v prospech uhorského hospodárstva a obchodu.Položka Semiotic landscapes: Exploring the sociopolitical dimensions of alternative names(Uniwersytet Warszawski : Varšava, 2024) Javorčíková, JanaThe study presented herewith is based on three years of research con- ducted as part of a national grant scheme entitled “Cultural Memory of European Cities” (2012–2023). The authors build upon the research of selected practitioners of science, focusing on social semiotics and socio-onomastics. Specifically, they analyze the social and political contexts of alternative regional names (such as so- briquets, nicknames, aliases, abbreviations, and selected mottos) for 100 Euro- pean destinations, which reveal the cultural memory of the city or region and com- municate various alternative semiotic meanings, including real or projected emo- tions, attitudes, and statuses. Among these are adopted identities of a more sig- nificant counterpart (e.g., Little Italy, Venice of the North), megalomania (e.g., New Jerusalem), inferiority complexes related to certain imperfections (e.g., The City that is never ready), and many others. On the other hand, the absence of al- ternative name(s) may carry an important semiotic message of the so-called ‘non- identity.’ As such it may indicate the ‘silenced’ and ‘suppressed identity’ of loca- tions with ‘unspeakable’ histories, for example, Auschwitz and Waterloo, which are beyond easily graspable linguistic notions. The study presented herewith will examine the diverse ways in which informal regional names and naming shape, and are shaped by, words and worlds-in-the-making, and how they reflect and affect the identity or identities of the respective region. Research results will help to define a taxonomy of various semiotic approaches to expressing diverse atti- tudes towards collective identities for the preservation of collective memory, as well as region branding.Položka Pravoslávna viera v živote ruského človeka po roku 1917 (na príklade poviedky "Svetlo rozumu" I. S. Šmeľova)(Masarykova univerzita v Brně, 2024) Cintula, IgorV predkladanom príspevku je autorom analyzovaná pozícia pravoslávnej viery v živote ruského človeka, ktorý po októbrovej revolúcii v roku 1917 čelil narastajúcim ideologickým tlakom a zaužívané hodnoty, vrátane náboženských a duchovných, boli vo formujúcej sa porevolučnej spoločnosti predstaviteľmi novej vládnej moci násilne potláčané alebo zosmiešňované. Ako materiál pre analýzu takéhoto javu bola použitá poviedka Svetlo rozumu (Свет Разума, 1926) ruského spisovateľa prvej vlny emigrácie Ivana Sergejeviča Šmeľova (1873 – 1950), reflektujúca oslavy pravoslávnych sviatkov a s nimi spojené počiatky ideologického a hodnotového tlaku na jednotlivca v prostredí porevolučnej ruskej spoločnosti na Kryme. Analýza poviedky je doplnená sprievodným komentárom autora, v ktorom obracia pozornosť i na osobu spisovateľa ako tvorcu literárneho textu a jeho osobnú pozíciu k pravoslávnej viere.
