The paper addresses topics related to education in the context of the new Act on Adult Education, which came into effect on 1st January 2025. The author analyses the relevant changes in the lifelong learning system, especially as they affect informal education provided in libraries. The article highlights the importance of libraries as centres for community education and of accredited educational programmes. It emphasises the need for them to adapt to the new conditions and respond effectively to the ongoing evolution of users’ needs to strengthen their role in the lifelong learning process.
